Each team has a roster full of players, usually filled with at least 2 players at 5 positions on the basketball court. A typical roster size is 13-15 players. Every team also has a coach, assistant coaches, general managers, owners, president of basketball operations, and other less known smaller positions that contribute to the team. Every team has a home arena where they play their home games. Each team has the task of winning as many NBA games as they can in the regular season, which is 82 games total. At the end of the regular season, the top 8 teams with the most wins from each conference are awarded a playoff spot. The teams then go through a multi-round playoff system: quater-finals, semi-finals, conference finals, and finally NBA Finals. Each team must win 4 games out of a possible 7 first in each round, while higher seed teams in each round will have more games at their own arena if the series goes 7 games. After a team wins the NBA finals they are rewarded the Larry O’Brien championship trophy and are hailed the best team in the association. After the season teams try to improve by utilizing free agency, where a pool of NBA players are available to be signed to a team(also is availabe through most the NBA season, just not as popular). And finally, the NBA draft, where the most talented basketball players have a chance to be selected by an NBA team. And after that, the cycle gets repeated for every NBA season.
